Hervonden Stad 2020

I am always looking for information about old closed breweries in the province of Groningen. During my search I was attended to a serie of books called the Hervonden Stad (until 2020) and Hervonden Stad en Lande (from 2021). Since 1996 the city of Groningen, in collaboration with Monument & Material, is publishing books about the renovated buildings, excavations and archeology in Groningen. In the jubileum edition in 2020 the book number 25 was published with some exiting topics.

I was surprised to read an article in the chapter Building History 2019 about the renovation of the builing at the coner of the Steentilstraat (no 43-49) and the Winschoterkade in Groningen. In this building you could find brewery De Struisvogel (The Ostrich) from the late 1700s till the early 1900s. At my website you can find more information about this brewery (only in dutch).
